The project remains on schedule. Contractor crews continued working day and night shifts throughout the week to maintain production and prepare the corridor for upcoming paving operations. Milling is scheduled to begin on 5/26/2026 for final pavement preparation.
• Continued installation of drainage structures and pipe runs. Several structures required deep excavation, with average installation depths exceeding 10 feet, creating slower production and added safety considerations.
• Ongoing subgrade preparation and sidewalk bedding.
• Curb and gutter placement performed using hand‑form methods in areas inaccessible to slip‑form equipment.
• Numerous unknown utilities encountered throughout the winter months required redesigns and field adjustments.
• Adverse winter weather created continual delays and difficult working conditions.
Despite these issues, crews have maintained overall schedule progress.
Paving will be performed behind cones and at WV622 and 62 intersection.
• Expect ongoing night time lane closures and traffic shifts as work progresses.
• Flaggers will be used during the night shift to aid in traffic control for upcoming paving.
• Additional updates will be issued as major milestones approach.
