Work on the project is progressing with minimal delays. Project is continuing to place curb and gutter, inlets, pipe and sidewalk as the primary items of focus. Work is being …
The project remains on schedule. Contractor crews continued working day and night shifts throughout the week to maintain production and prepare the corridor for upcoming paving operations.
• Continued installation of drainage structures and pipe runs. Several structures required deep excavation, with average installation depths exceeding 10 feet, creating slower production and added safety considerations.
• Ongoing subgrade preparation and sidewalk bedding.
• Curb and gutter placement performed using hand‑form methods in areas inaccessible to slip‑form equipment.
• Numerous unknown utilities encountered throughout the winter months required redesigns and field adjustments.
• Adverse winter weather created continual delays and difficult working conditions.
Despite these issues, crews have maintained overall schedule progress.
• Night shift work will continue for the foreseeable future to maintain traffic flow and accelerate production ahead of asphalt paving, which is targeted for mid‑May.
• Removal of the raised islands at the WV 62/622 intersection will occur during night operations to minimize traffic impacts.
• Continued drainage, grading, and base preparation activities.
• Expect ongoing nighttime lane closures and traffic shifts as work progresses.
• Additional updates will be issued as major milestones approach.
